Deanne
Hello,

I must admit that I feel overwhelmed sometimes and the only thing that brings me back on track is knowing exactly what I need to do (the To-Do list), figuring out how long things will take me (not including the 5 hours for procrastination), and then scheduling each item so that it gets done.

People sometimes over estimate professional organizers thinking that it's just easy for us. Well, lot's of the organizing stuff is but I need to come clean... it takes work, daily work, and personally, some days I don't feel like doing the work and things fall behind.

The great thing for me is that because I have core systems in place I can pick up where I fell off the organizing wagon and it isn't so bad. So, if you start and then you stop - well, just start again! Have faith that your efforts are purposeful, evaluate your system to ensure that it's working for you, and don't worry - even the really organized organizers fine tuning their systems.

Welcome to our November edition of the Organized Lifestyle Magazine. This is the second of three editions dedicated to simplifying your life.

The Organized Lifestyle Magazine (OLM) is about organizing your Home, Office, Time, and Spirit in the easiest manner possible.

Simplify Your Groceries
* HOME *
groceries

Have you ever noticed that organizing your kitchen cupboards is a little like organizing your closet? No, well it can be. It's about grouping similar items together - just like at the grocery story or the clothing store. Long sleeve pullovers in the closet and dry baking goods in the kitchen. Pasta and pants. Suits and canned goods – I could do this all day!

It’s helpful for lots of reasons, mainly because you save time and money but, it also makes shopping easier because you will always know how many bags of pasta you have as well as how many black sweaters – just by visualizing the space.

Simplify By Planning Ahead
* TIME *

Planning ahead will ensure that you can fit in all the fun and all the work over the next couple of months - effortlessly!

Need a babysitter? Call the sitter and book her/him as soon as you receive your invitation.

Buying gifts for more than one? Create a spread sheet of who you are buying for, what you plan to buy, what the cost is, and a check box for when you purchase it. This is also great way keep you on budget during the season.

Need Wine? Consider purchasing a case or two of your favorite wine so you don’t have to go to the store each time you are invited out or when guests drop by.

On line ordering – plan and order early so that items are received in good time.

Sending out greeting cards? Determine how many cards you’ll need, buy the stamps ahead of time, print address labels from your computer, and schedule a few hours to start and finish in one evening.

In need of a personal assistant for a few hours or errands?
Making it Simple
Did you find the keys?

"Hey, funny story for you. I was getting ready to leave for school and an oil change, ALMOST late as usual, and as I'm leaving I realize I can't find my keys anywhere.

We just moved mind you so the house is a little messy. Anyway, I start looking everywhere, high low, my room, room mate’s rooms, basement, car, fridge, you get the idea!

I was so furious because at my old apartment I used to walk in the door and throw my keys in my hanging shoe rack so I always knew where they were, but of course at this time I can’t even find that! Finally I found them in my sweater that I was wearing yesterday, that Denessa washed (and swore she checked the pockets before hand!) and left to school.

I just opened this newsletter now and saw your first heading "Simply your keys" so I am going home, finding my shoe rack, hanging it up, and getting my life simplified!! Love you lots B xoxo"

This was a great letter from my niece, Thanks Bee.

Hopefully you will find this inspirational to make a little change to something that is driving you crazy.

Simplify Your Availability
* OFFICE *

Auto responders are an excellent way to communicate when you’re out of the office and when you’ll be back – but they don’t have to be boring!

Remember to include the dates you’ll be gone, when you will return, and approximately when you will be responding to emails. If you can direct them to speak to someone else include all pertinent information.

With all the information required you can still create a professional yet personable autoresponder.

If you travel regularly you can create a template of the message and quickly copy and paste when needed.

Thinking your documents could use a little de- cluttering? Work with one of the Kaos Group specialists and clear the clutter so that you can save time and money!

Simplify The Budget

Start with a budget on paper. Excel files are great for this. Print it off and keep it handy. Refer to the budget often, especially if you are planning seasonal gift buying. If you are, create a specific category – list each persons name and assign a dollar amount

Take the hardcopy of the budget with you when you shop. To shave off superfluous expenses plan a special dinner with friends as your gift to each other. Avoid purchasing gift items on your credit cards. You will be so happy when your gifts are purchased and paid for with no extra interest charges

Create a budget with your kids – they are never too young to learn about managing money.
