Closer to Fine
 
Have you ever wondered why, with so many natural factors that impeded and thwart our ability to move forward in our lives, we seem to add or create additional blockades that makes matters worse, instead of honestly communicating in a manner that can and will move us closer to 'fine'?  
 
For those of you who know me it may strike you as odd that I'm saying 'fine' instead of 'great' or 'incredible'  - but as odd as it sounds it's because we all need to start somewhere, and aspiring to get 'closer to fine' is a great place to start.
 
When I speak of 'honestly communicating' I mean with ourselves as the first step and then once that is clear inviting our loved ones into the conversation.
 
Recently, in a conversation with a client, the husband shared with me how he finds it a little silly that our staff member, taking her direction from his wife, organizes their kitchen when 'he' is the primary chef in their household. "Since I cook in the kitchen I would be the one to organize it". I would agree if he actually did organize it however, since he didn't I couldn't say much. The conversation continued and I asked questions about his involvement in the overall process of getting their home organized and, not to my surprise, he shared with me that he and his wife benefited from having someone help them but they're were organizing tasks that only the two of them could complete - only they understood which toys the kids played with, which pot's and pans were used most often, and so on.
 
I realized in this conversation, like others I have heard before, just how important it is for the partners to be playing on the same team. They needed to clarify their wants, desires, and expectations of what a professional organizer is going to do for them.
 
As an individual, finding the courage to say that you need help is the first step. Having the faith to share with your partner or loved ones that you want the help of a professional organizer is your second step. The third and final step is almost the easiest because 'we' have a conversation to start planning  the process - this is the strongest and most successful way to get you 'closer to fine'.
